T4 “euthanasia” program

Beginning in 1939, Nazi Germany implemented a "euthanasia" program under the codename "T4" to medically murder physically and mentally disabled Germans.

The program aimed to eliminate what the Nazis deemed "life unworthy of life." Between January 1940 - August 1941, over 70,000 patients were killed with carbon monoxide gas in facilities specifically designed for the program. The same technology would soon be implemented in the mass killing of Jews in Nazi killing centers in occupied Poland, and many T4 personnel were among the staff stationed in those facilities.
