Vichy, France
Capital of the collaborationist French state (known as Vichy France) headed by Marshal Henri-Philippe Pétain in the unoccupied, southern part of France from the Nazi invasion in July 1940 until the liberation of France by the Allies in August 1944. The Vichy government cooperated with the Nazis, facilitating the deportation and murder of some 77,000 Jews living in France.
